Scenic hot air balloon flight

Sightseeing flights are conducted in the vicinity of three cities: Warsaw, Radom, and Lodz. The flight area covers regions up to several dozen kilometers from each of these cities, away from urban development and air traffic zones. Thanks to this, passengers can admire the vast, open landscapes of the Polish lowlands, fields, and forests.

The exact takeoff location is always determined by the pilot on the day of the flight, based on the current wind direction and speed. The passenger meeting point is set in advance, however, the takeoff point may differ from previous flights. Before each flight, passengers receive detailed information about the time and location of the meeting. 

Passengers meet at a designated meeting point, from where a special off-road vehicle transports the entire group to the launch site. The drive takes between 40 and 60 minutes and is an integral part of the entire expedition. There is no single fixed launch site, as the pilot selects the most suitable terrain each time, taking into account weather conditions and current airspace regulations.

It is worth arriving at the meeting point on time, as a delay by one person can affect the schedule of the entire group. All details regarding the meeting location are provided before the flight via phone or email. 

The hot air balloon flight itself lasts about 60 minutes. For the entire trip, from the moment of meeting to the return, you should set aside 3 to 4 hours. The total time includes travel to the launch site, setting up the balloon, passenger briefing, the one-hour flight, landing, packing up the equipment, the aeronaut baptism ceremony, and the return to the meeting point.

The pilot may shorten or extend the flight time depending on current weather conditions and the availability of a suitable landing site. Safety always takes precedence over the duration of the flight. 

Sunrise flights are among the most popular and picturesque. They usually take off just after dawn, when the air is calm, stable, and free of turbulence. The morning atmosphere is conducive to a long and peaceful flight. The views at sunrise are unique, as soft, golden light illuminates the fields, forests, and rivers stretching out below.

Morning flights are available throughout the year, although their exact takeoff time changes with the seasons. In summer, dawn occurs very early, so takeoff may be as early as four or five in the morning. In winter, morning flights take off at more comfortable hours, usually after seven o’clock. 

Sunset flights are carried out in the late afternoon and are an excellent alternative to morning flights. Atmospheric conditions in the evening are often just as calm as at dawn, which contributes to a safe and comfortable flight. Watching the sunset from an altitude of 1 km above the ground is an incredible experience. The warm, red, and orange colors of the sky create a unique backdrop for the entire adventure.

The start time of the evening flight depends on the time of year and the current sunset time. The pilot selects it so that the peak moment of the flight coincides with the moment the sun approaches the horizon. 

The outfit for a hot air balloon flight should be primarily comfortable and adapted to the current temperature. During a flight at high altitudes, the air temperature can be lower than on the ground, which is why a long-sleeved sweatshirt or a light jacket is always useful. Headwear protects against the sun and wind, and closed-toe footwear with a flat sole ensures stability when getting in and out of the basket.

Bags and backpacks must remain on the ground because they add weight to the balloon and limit space in the basket. A camera or phone can be held in your hand, but during landing, you must have your hands completely free to hold onto the handles inside the basket. In winter, warm gloves and thermal underwear worn under your outer clothing are especially useful. 

Hot air balloon flights are conducted throughout the year, in all seasons. Spring and summer are the most popular seasons, when nature awakens and the landscapes are at their greenest. Autumn delights with the golden colors of the forests seen from a bird’s-eye view, and winter offers calm, windless days with views of snow-covered fields.

Every season has its own unique charm during a flight in the air. The only condition is suitable weather on the day of the flight, regardless of the month. In winter, morning flights take off during daylight hours, which increases passenger comfort during the colder months. 

A hot air balloon flight can only take place under suitable weather conditions. Wind speed must not exceed 15 km/h, and wind gusts must be less than 5 m/s. Any precipitation, whether rain or snow, precludes the flight from taking place. A cloud base that is too low, fog, and the risk of thunderstorms within a 100 km radius of the launch site also make a flight impossible.

When weather conditions are unsuitable, the flight is rescheduled for another date. The pilot monitors the weather forecast continuously and informs passengers about the flight status before the scheduled takeoff. A change of date can be requested by contacting the organizer, but no later than 72 hours before the scheduled flight day. 

Hot air balloons are among the safest types of aircraft. Every flight is conducted by a licensed pilot with aviation credentials issued by the Civil Aviation Authority. Before takeoff, the pilot performs a detailed technical inspection of the equipment and assesses current weather conditions. A flight will not take place if there are any concerns regarding safety.

Before every flight, passengers undergo a short briefing during which the pilot explains the rules for behavior in the basket, how to enter and exit, and the correct position for landing. Balloon equipment is subject to regular technical inspections and certification in accordance with aviation regulations. Passenger safety is always the priority and the condition upon which the execution of every flight depends.
